Rochelle came to me with a clear vision: she wanted a website that captured the warmth and spirit of Hawaii while still looking professional and being easy to navigate. With a large inventory of products and a busy store to run, she needed more than just a beautiful site-she needed a reliable partner to help her organize, launch, and manage it all.

When planning the homepage for Furniture Express Hawaii, I knew the wide range of products had to take center stage-without overwhelming the customer. I focused on creating a layout that showcased the variety while maintaining clarity and ease of use. Key store values were highlighted throughout: quality furniture at great prices, flexible financing options, pickup information, and clear customer support. I leaned into themes of family, especially in callouts for kids and teens furniture, which are a major part of the store's identity. The goal was to keep things simple, clean, and informative. And yes-full transparency-we went through several rounds of font options before landing on the perfect fit.
Furniture Express Hawaii marked a major milestone in my development journey. At the company I worked for at the time, developers were typically allotted up to two weeks to complete a website build. I was able to complete this one in just three days. By refining and streamlining my development workflow-focusing on reusable components, clean CSS structure, and smart content organization-I delivered a fully functional, polished site ahead of schedule. The experience reinforced the value of preparation, process efficiency, and a deep understanding of the tools I was using. It also gave me the confidence to take on larger, more complex projects with the same level of precision and speed.
Since launch, the Furniture Express Hawaii website has remained largely unchanged-a testament to its success and strong foundation. We've made a few strategic updates, such as adding new items to both the main and top navigation bars to support evolving customer needs. Most of the ongoing work has centered around helping Rochelle manage and maintain the site, ensuring it continues to run smoothly and serve her growing inventory.
